Excuses cost you more than they buy you.

About This Quote

This quote is a popular phrase used to remind people to stop making excuses and get things done. If you have a legitimate reason for not doing something, then it's absolutely fine to make an excuse. However, if you're simply trying to justify why you don't want to do something, then that's where the phrase starts to lose its meaning. One of the most famous excuses in sports is "I can't play until I'm ready." This is a legitimate excuse because of the severity of the injury.

The more serious the injury, the more valid it is for a player not to join a new team until they are fully recovered. However, there are other instances where an injury makes the player unable to perform at their best level, but can still train and get back up to speed. If this player does not join the team until they are fully healed, this is an example of an excuse.

Another example would be someone who was unable to finish college because they were injured. These two examples show two different ways in which someone can use an excuse as an invalid reason for why they cannot do something.
